Are you interested in becoming a member of Engineers Without Borders-University of Minnesota?
EWB-USA UMN is a group of students interested in sustainable engineering, the environment, and addressing needs of disadvantaged communities around the world that lack basic needs such as clean water, hygienic sanitation, energy supply, or health. We form a relationship with an organization or community abroad with a project in mind, assess the community needs and collect necessary data, conceptualize, design, and finally implement the project. There is also a lot of work in our community that involves outreach and fundraising.
Over the past years we have completed projects in Ghana, Haiti, Bolivia and Uganda. We currently have a project in Guatemala, with plans for a new Ethiopia project beginning fall 2016.
As a result, EWB-USA UMN provides students with a great learning experience. Our chapter enables students to apply their engineering and sustainability interests into pragmatic solutions that have a lasting impact on others. In addition, a considerable aspect of our work involves working in teams, networking within the wider community, and taking on leadership roles.
We are always having meetings and people can join in at any time. Our members come from all majors and school years, and there are many opportunities for involvement that should meet both your particular interest and desired level of commitment.
